Cost management

See the Cost Behind the Work.

Most labs know their prices. Fewer can explain their costs. Byinux turns materials, labor, machine time and overhead into an explicit costing model you can inspect, question and improve.

Illustrative interface with sample data.

Cost dimensions

Four kinds of cost, each with its own source.

Each dimension has a clear owner and a clear way of turning raw figures into a cost per unit of work.

  • Materials

Material master data with specifications, units and a standard unit cost, plus stock in, stock out and adjustments per facility.

  • Labor

Labor sources hold a cost amount and basis (hour, day, week or month), normalized to an hourly standard using the facility working calendar.

  • Machines

Separate the standard machine resource a step requires from the physical machine assets you own and their effective-dated cost facts.

  • Expenses

Expense sources carry budgets for overhead; expense records capture what was actually spent.

  • Allocation rules and capacity

Spread machine, material and overhead costs with explicit allocation rules and capacity drivers rather than hidden percentages.

  • Save, review, then publish

Configured cost sources follow Save → Draft → Publish, so a change only affects runtime costs once someone publishes it.

Standard vs actual

Planned and actual, kept apart on purpose.

Mixing what work should cost with what it did cost hides the most useful signal: the difference.

Standard cost

What the work should cost

  • Built only from published inputs: material standard unit costs, labor hourly standards, machine standards and overhead budgets.
  • Overhead and machine costs are spread with explicit allocation rules and capacity drivers.
  • A missing input is shown as a blocker—never silently treated as zero or replaced with another value.

Actual facts

What actually happened

  • Actual labor costs, machine cost facts, expense records and inventory movements are recorded as facts.
  • Facts are saved immediately and kept separate from the standard, so the two can be compared rather than blended.
  • Each fact belongs to the resource it describes, so you can trace it back.

Change control

Cost changes go live only when you publish them.

Configured cost sources follow Save → Draft → Publish, so a half-finished edit never changes the numbers your team relies on.

  1. 01

    Save

Edits to a cost source are stored as a draft. Nothing in runtime changes yet.

  2. 02

    Review

Check the draft, including any recalculated standard such as a labor hourly cost.

  3. 03

    Publish

Publishing is the only action that changes the standard cost used at runtime.

A note on expectations. Byinux makes your costing model explicit and traceable. It does not replace your accountant, and its results are only as good as the inputs you maintain. We recommend comparing results with your own accounting while you adopt it.

Connected

  • Manage Every Case

Structured case intake with tooth charts, prescriptions and files, followed by proposals that dentists can review and accept from a secure link.

  • Keep Production Moving

Define how each service is made: reusable process templates, a shared step library, shifts and skills, all linked to the offerings you sell.

  • Organize Your Operations

Facilities, working calendars, departments, members and permissions, plus a directory of the clinics and dentists you work with.

Know what each case really takes.

Tell us how your lab works today. We will show you what Byinux for Labs does now, and be clear about what is still in development.
